What made you apply for this role?
I knew I wanted to get into accounting, and I really liked what I saw from LB. They place a big focus on a cooperative and supportive atmosphere, and the fact they offer all sorts of career and skills training was a big plus.
Tell us about your first day.
I was very nervous, obviously, but Clare from HR immediately talked me through what I needed to know, showed me around the office, and introduced me to everyone. It was helpful to break the ice with the team.
I had plenty of training on the specific software and got involved with some client work, too, with a colleague there talking me through and helping me understand what to look for and how to move things along.
Has the job met your expectations so far?
I expected to like it, and I do! I have learned a lot so far, and the job has allowed me to use my head and draw on the experience I am gaining all the time. It’s just the kind of continuous learning process that I was looking for.
What are your plans going forward?
Firstly, I want to learn as much as I can in the role and build up my skills. Then, I’ll focus on gaining my qualifications before moving up in the company. I have heard from Directors and some of my colleagues who have all progressed through the ranks, so it’s great to know there’s real opportunity here for progression.
What we can offer you
Our employee’s career progression is important to us, and we therefore foster a culture of knowledge sharing, in-house training and qualifications to enable our staff to build their knowledge and learn different skills. Line mangers work with each employee to create development plans to help them achieve their career goals.
Social events build strong and productive relationships and improves communication and collaboration. We therefore have an active social calendar with a representative at each office organising events, such as Escape Rooms, football sweepstakes, pancake day and Christmas parties. We also run quarterly group wide events, where staff get to come together across all locations.
Your health matters to us. That’s why we offer this Government approved initiative so employees can benefit from accessing a new bike to ride to work, through salary sacrifice each month. This is a great way to not only increase your physical activity but helps manage stress and anxiety.
We want to make sure you’re happy in your working environment and therefore we provide all employees with a comfortable office space. We provide hot desk options if you are travelling between offices and access to fresh fruit, a well-equipped kitchen and breakout spaces across all our offices.
A balance between work and play
From baking competitions to firewalking or dinner and drinks to games nights, we enjoy spending time with our colleagues outside of work too!
