Mental Health Awareness Week 2024: Moving more for our mental health

LB Group breaks the stigma of mental health within the workforce and supports Mental Health Awareness Week 2024.

Mental Health Foundation has been leading Mental Health Awareness Week for the last 23 years, bringing together the UK to focus on getting good mental health. The theme for 2024 is Movement: Moving more for our mental health.

Understanding mental health issues and creating an inclusive workplace is high on the agenda for LB. In support of creating a positive and encouraging employee culture, the newly appointed Mental Health Champions at LB Group led the way in supporting Mental Health Awareness Week, which ran last week, from 13th to 19th May, with a week-long schedule of activities focusing on the theme of ‘Movement’ to boost mental health, encourage positivity and to ensure that no one is alone or isolated.

Activities across the LB Group offices included:

  • Charity Bake Sale, raising over £270 in donations for Mind
  • Book Swap Launch and Board Games at Lunch
  • Mental Health top tips and sharing of resources during a planned Lunch and Learn
  • Morning Mindfulness and Lunchtime breakout sessions to encourage a positive working balance and structure
  • Lunchtime walks

Clare Wilson, Group HR Manager who supports the initiative, said, ‘The benefits of physical activity, regular breaks and stretches away from the desk are well documented. However, we recognise this is not always easy to achieve, particularly when working from home or within project deadlines. Statistics show that just 61% of employees feel they have the right work/life balance. At LB Group, we are committed to giving our colleagues the foundations and support they need to achieve a healthy work/life balance. I am delighted that the newly appointed Mental Health Champions are leading this initiative, further reinforcing our commitment to their well-being.’
