Press release: May 2008 Essex corporate finance accountant, Trevor Lake, is setting out to prove that he´s twice the man he was at 20! Far from reaching for his slippers as he approaches his 40th birthday, Trevor, a director at LB Group´s offices in central Stratford, is reaching for the stars. Trevor has set himself the challenge of completing the Windsor Triathlon on Sunday 15th June. The gruelling event includes a 1.5km swim, followed by a 42km bike ride, then a 10k run. He aims to raise more than £5,000 for Orchid, the UK´s only registered charity to focus entirely on the male-specific cancers. Mr Lake, a keen sports enthusiast who has been in training for six months, said, "Two thousand cases of testicular cancer are diagnosed each year. Statistics regarding prostate cancer are even more frightening. Around 35,000 cases are diagnosed each year, and the condition kills 10,000 a year. "We all know that men find it difficult to talk about health, but it is essential that the word spreads about the prevention, diagnosis and early treatment of these potential killers," he added. "I hope to raise funds to enable this wonderful charity to continue its pioneering research and to publicise the issues. Men should not die because of their embarrassment or ignorance of these conditions."
